| Educational Media Services (EdMS) supports the University
by creating learning, educational, informational and promotional content
and materials in a variety of media formats and systems. EdMS focuses media
production towards support of teaching and learning and provides a media
communications and collaboration infrastructure as part of the overarching
learning technology infrastructure of the University. The EdMS director is responsible for leadership and oversight of production and/or broadcast of excellent educational programming, the provision of a robust and stable communications and collaboration infrastructure, and the creation of appropriate learning, educational, informational and promotional content and materials for the academic and research efforts of the University and its community. | Responsible for all aspects of an internationally recognized, award-winning educational television station that reaches over 650,000 homes throughout Northern Virginia, 16.5 million households in North America via the Research Channel, and is available globally on the World Wide Web. Programming includes televised courses, live shows, and taped promotional programs. Oversee the day-to-day operations. Schedule, monitor, review and facilitate all television production projects. Responsible for technology planning, resource allocation and utilization, production staff training and quality assurance for all GMU-TV projects. |

Responsibilities include management and training of staff in all facets of production, budgeting, technology planning, developing and implementing new initiatives, exploring methodologies for optimizing the utilization of the television medium for instruction, and creating George Mason University’s televised image. Extensive production skills include: Producing, Directing, Camera Operator, Scriptwriter, Talent, and Licensed Teletrainer. |
