I
am a student interested in employment or an internship at GMU-TV,
what is available?
Student employment at GMU-TV is very competitive. There are usually
only one to two openings a year. Most of our student employees have
interned or volunteered with us for at least one semester. Internships
are offered through the Communication
department.
GMU-TV also has a work study program. Work study students are usually
hired on a first come first serve basis. Again, preference is given
to students who have previously interned or volunteered for GMU-TV.
Sometimes
when I tune in to GMU-TV I see NOVA or some other channel. Why
is this?
On cable systems such as Arlington, Prince William, and Loudoun
GMU-TV splits channel time with other universities or broadcast stations.
If you would like to see GMU-TV on your cable system 24 hours a day
please call or write your cable system.
Where
and when are telecourses available?
Copies of all current telecourses are kept at both the Johnson
Center and Prince William Campus Libraries, and are usually available
within 24 hours of taping. Times may vary in Prince William due to
mail delivery and inclement weather. Look for copies at the Arlington
Libraries in the near future.
How
can I advertise my event on GMU-TV's Bulletin Board System?
GMU-TV INFONET is George Mason University's Informational Bulletin
Board. George Mason University sponsored events and services can be
listed for broadcast on the INFONET between GMU-TV programs at no
charge. To have your George Mason University event or service listed,
contact GMU-TV's Master Control at (703) 993-3109.
Will
GMU-TV make a copy of my video for me?
No. Most people don't realize that duplicating commercially produced
videos is a violation of copyright law. If you own the rights to your
video or believe you are protected under Educational Fair Use, the
STAR Center can make a duplicate
for a small fee. STAR is
located in room 229 of the Johnson Center. Their telephone number
is (703) 993-8990.
